Hanoi – Singing sensation Ho Quynh Huong has been crowned Asia’s Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrity Woman 2013 after a fierce, month-long battle that recently ended at PETAAsiaPacific.com. Actor and singer Chen Kun from China won the title of Asia’s Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrity Man. Ho narrowly beat out fellow singer Võ Ha Trâm, beauty queen Truong Thi May and actors Viet Trinh and Maggie Q. International stars who fared well in the competition included former US President Bill Clinton; musicians Jason Mraz, Faye Wong, Khalil Fong and Paul McCartney; talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres and actors Natalie Portman, Tobey Maguire, Jared Leto and Anne Hathaway.
Ho is famous for her sensual and unique voice, which helped her win Lan Song Xanh’s Most Favourite Singer award four years in a row. She also received a Singer of the Year nomination for the Commitment Award in 2012.
Chen, an A-list actor and a singer, originally from Chongqing, first expressed his determination to adhere to a vegan diet on a social-networking site. He has won a Hundred Flowers Award for Best Actor and a Huabiao Award for Best Actor and also received one Golden Horse Film Award nomination for Best Actor.
“I used to force myself in a strict diet to keep my weight stable when I was on a meat-based diet, but this is no longer my concern now. Ever since I adopt the vegetarian diet, my weight is kept under control without any extra fat”, says Ho. “Besides, my skin conditions are also better. My professional make-up artist also comments that my skin brightens up easily with just a soft layer of make-up.”
“There’s no easier way to put passion in your life than to put compassion in your diet”, says PETA Asia Vice President Jason Baker. “Ho knows that going vegetarian is the best thing that you can do for animals, the Earth and your health. Plus, she’s living proof that being vegetarian keeps you slim and sexy.”
Winners were selected based on several factors, including vote count. The complete list of vegetarian celebrities who were in the running in this year’s contest is available at PETAAsiaPacific.com.
