Save Greyhounds From Horrific Racing Industry

Posted on by Ashley Fruno

Greyhound racing MacauThousands of greyhounds die every year at the hands of the cruel dog-racing industry. Even puppies are killed in the name of “selective breeding” before they even touch a racetrack. The torture and inevitable death of these animals in the name of human entertainment and greed is a horrible atrocity. Greyhounds are drugged and beaten in order to force them to perform and are often eventually killed.

China has only one legal dog-racing track, and it’s in Macau. Here, hundreds of Australian greyhounds are imported to race and die at the Calindrome, a large-scale dog-racing facility. In addition to allowing the horrific tortures of the racing industry, many facilities like the Calindrome have no adoption program. This means that every dog who enters the Calindrome also dies there.

Our friends at Animals Asia, Animals Australia, Grey2K USA, and ANIMA have been working together to close the Calindrome and stop this deadly trade. Join us in supporting their efforts by writing letters to Macau Chief Executive Chui Sai On and asking him to close the Calindrome. Also write to Australian Senator Joe Ludwig and ask him to stop the export of greyhounds to Macau.
