Two Great Food Finds in Hong Kong

In addition to serving up fantastic Cantonese fare, Harmony Village sells a variety of vegetarian specialty products.

Although Hong Kong has a plethora of veggie restaurants for those of us who hate cooking, want to introduce friends or loved ones to delicious vegan foods, or simply want a fun night out, I thought I’d share two of my favorites from a recent trip.

Harmony Village is a long-standing fave of mine, not just because it happens to be right around the corner from my regular hotel but also because it provides traditional vegetarian fare at low prices with fast and friendly service. There are more than 100 menu options, so you’ll be sure to find something you’ll like. I opted for the set lunch, which comes with rice, soup, stir-fried veggies, and bean curd for just HK$34.

All this for just HK$34!

The menu at Life Café includes everything from salads and raw delicacies to pasta, tofu dishes, and vegan desserts. I tried (and fell in love with) the Raw Power Zucchini—zucchini “pasta” swirled in organic pumpkin-seed pesto and almond parmesan. The Life Organic Burger is a must-have and comes topped with tofu bacon and vegan mayonnaise. If you have room for dessert (you probably won’t—the portions are huge!), choose from many delectable vegan treats including brownies and chocolate-orange cookies.
