Good news! Lulu, a young Sika deer who was kept tied at Bandao Resort Hotel on Green Island, has been freed from the chains of her confinement and moved to a deer sanctuary park, thanks to the help of local officials.

PETA learned about Lulu’s plight, thanks to a compassionate tourist who took the time to report it. We immediately took action, working with the government to move Lulu to a safer place. Lulu’s previous life meant being tied by a rope less than 1 meter long 24 hours a day, seven days a week. She spent her days and nights standing in her own feces and sleeping on the same piece of cold, hard concrete floor.

Now, thanks to a compassionate tourist and local authorities, who were swift to take action, Lulu enjoys the life she truly deserves, roaming rolling grass fields and enjoying the company of her many newfound friends.
