PHOTO: ‘Star Wars Stormtroopers’ Exposed the Dark Side of Ajinomoto and Blast Company Over Animal Tests
A squad of PETA supporters dressed in Star Wars stormtrooper armor marched outside Ajinomoto’s office in Taipei City on Thursday to condemn the company’s use of cruel and deadly tests in which dogs, pigs, mice, and other animals have been used in order to make dubious health claims for marketing food products and ingredients. Ajinomoto, the world’s largest manufacturer of monosodium glutamate (MSG), owns seasoning brands HONDASHI and VONO and instant coffee brand Blendy.
“It doesn’t take a Jedi to know that Ajinomoto will be on the dark side of history as long as it continues to ruthlessly torment and kill animals in painful and pointless tests,” says PETA Senior Vice President Jason Baker. “PETA is urging Ajinomoto to use the force of compassion and join the dozens of other global food giants that have ended gruesome animal tests and embraced humane and superior non-animal research.”
