‘Animals Get Bullied, Too!’ Sky-High Pro-Animal Messages From PETA Take Over City

Kuala Lumpur — People moving around the city are in for an eyeful, courtesy of 4 massive messages from PETA urging responsible and respectful treatment of dogs, including by keeping them safely indoors and out of the heat, always having them spayed or neutered, and never chaining them or subjecting them to violence, neglect, or cruelty. LAGUNA Media has teamed up with PETA to promote these messages on over a dozen billboards across Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.

“Cats and dogs are family, and this ad blitz encourages guardians to show them humane and loving care in all the ways,” says PETA Senior Vice President Jason Baker. “PETA is eager to reach as many eyes as possible with these vital messages, and we thank LAGUNA Media for being an ally for animals and making this possible.”

PETA notes that having animals spayed or neutered is the single most effective way to help prevent suffering caused by companion animal overpopulation. Dogs chained up outside are confined to the same few square feet of space 24/7 without any opportunity to enjoy life, and many die from heatstroke on sweltering days. The group urges everyone to treat companion animals the way they themselves would want to be treated, including by letting four-legged family members live indoors and by showing them kindness, not cruelty.

The ads read: “Animals Get Bullied, Too”; “Heat Can Kill. Take Dogs Indoors”; “Homeless Animals on Your Mind? Spay or Neuter Today”; and “No One Belongs on a Chain.” They are located at 14 billboards across Kuala Lumpur and Selangor and will be in place through 20 September. Photos are available here.

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to abuse in any way”—opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview. For more information, please visit PETAAsia.com or follow the group on XFacebook, or Instagram.
