‘Homeless Animals on Your Mind?’ Spay/Neuter Plea From Morrissey Takes Over City
Kuala Lumpur— What’s on Morrissey’s mind? Animal overpopulation—and he’s letting residents of Kuala Lumpur and Selangor in on the fix. In a citywide blitz of PETA appeals, the iconic singer reminds viewers that having companion animals spayed or neutered is the single most effective way to combat the homeless-animal crisis. LAGUNA Media has teamed up with PETA to promote these messages on 14 prominent billboards throughout the area.

“Across the country, countless cats and dogs are suffering on the mean streets or languishing in shelters because there aren’t enough good homes for them, but the solution to this crisis is as simple as prevention,” says PETA Senior Vice President Jason Baker. “PETA urges everyone to do their part by always having companion animals spayed or neutered, and we thank LAGUNA Media for helping to spread this vital message.”
Every year, millions of unwanted dogs and cats enter animal shelters around the world due to a lack of suitable homes for them. Many others struggle to survive on the streets, where they often go hungry, are deliberately injured or killed, or get hit by vehicles. Spaying and neutering can prevent scores of animals from being born into a world already bursting at the seams with homeless ones. Sterilized animals also live longer and happier lives, are less likely to develop cancer of the reproductive system, and are less likely to roam, fight, or contract deadly contagious diseases.
PETA’s appeals are located on 14 across Kuala Lumpur and Selangor and will be in place through 20 September. Photos are .
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to abuse in any way”—opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview. For more information, please visit PETAAsia.com or follow the group on X, Facebook, or Instagram.
