Radioactive Shrimp Scare Prompts PETA Appeal to BMS Foods of Indonesia: Leave Prawns in Peace and Go Vegan
Following recent US government warnings that frozen shrimp processed by BMS Foods of Indonesia may be contaminated with radioactive material, PETA sent a letter to the company today, urging its leaders to make the ethical and business-savvy transition to exclusively vegan shrimp production.
In the letter, PETA notes with more people than ever swearing off the consumption sea life out of concern for the animals, the planet, or their own health, the shrimp processing industry is a sinking ship—while the demand for vegan seafood is skyrocketing. If the company agrees to the innovative move, PETA has offered to assist the transition by connecting the company with potential partners.
