Model Strips Down in PETA’s New Ad for Jae Festival

Bangkok — In time for the annual Jae Festival, model, influencer and Bangkok native Richie Kul is posing nude in a striking new PETA campaign to encourage everyone to leave animals in peace and celebrate the festival’s spirit of kindness year-round by going vegan.

In an accompanying video spot, Kul opens up about his decision to go vegan 30 years ago, sharing that compassion has guided his choices for decades. “It was an easy decision once I understood the atrocities that happen day to day to animals,” he says. “We can live healthy, gratifying, fulfilling lives without harming animals—the question is, why don’t we?”

PETA points out that cows develop friendships over time, chickens form complex social structures, and pigs recognize their own names—but in today’s meat, egg, and dairy industries, animals are raised in filthy, crowded conditions, trucked to slaughterhouses through all weather extremes, and violently killed. More than one billion chickens are killed each year in Thailand, alone. Each person who goes vegan spares nearly 200 animals every year, dramatically shrinks their carbon footprint, and reduces their risk of suffering strokes and heart disease, one of the leading causes of death in Thailand, as well as cancer, diabetes, and obesity.

“When you know better, you do better,” Kul says in the video. “And it’s the best thing I’ve ever done for my health, the planet, and the animals.”

The ad was shot by photographer Nin Narint, with hair by Rapeepong Poothavornsub and makeup by Woranan Yaowarat.

PETA Asia—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat”—points out that Every Animal Is Someone. PETA offers a free guide to going vegan that can help anyone thinking of making the switch. For more information, please visit PETAAsia.com or follow PETA Asia on XFacebook, or Instagram.
