Fundraising Coordinator

Position Objectives:

  • To coordinate all fundraising efforts for PETA, with a focus on major gifts and fundraising events
  • To manage all donor relationships, including overseeing correspondence with our donors
  • To update PETA U.K. and PETA U.S. staff on our program and fundraising efforts

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Coordinate and help implement PETA’s fundraising strategies through direct response fundraising, special events, and donor cultivation
  • Identify and research appropriate “cases for giving” for targeted donors
  • Identify prospective major donors beyond our current donor base and assist with cultivation and solicitation strategies for these prospects
  • Maintain regular contact with specific groups of donors and act as a professional contact for them
  • Document pertinent information for the purpose of enhancing and developing donor profiles and ensure that all donor activity is up to date in our database
  • Collect and analyze pertinent data concerning PETA’s fundraising efforts and regularly report the results to the vice president of international fundraising as well as to PETA U.K. and PETA U.S. Coordinate and attend cultivation, retention, and solicitation events for PETA members and supporters throughout Asia, including donor-hosted events, major-donor meetings, and other special events
  • Coordinate the various aspects of events, including creating and mailing materials (e.g., invitations, sponsorship forms, and thank-you letters), auctions, entertainment, awards, handouts, and gift bags
  • Recruit volunteers and solicit in-kind contributions of goods and services for events
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with potential corporate partners and donors
  • Develop a working knowledge of planned-giving techniques
  • Manage relationships with vendors, including printers, mail houses, database consultants, and event-related companies and consultants
  • Stay up to date on current fundraising techniques and methods used in the nonprofit sector, especially ones particular to the Asian market, and attend professional training seminars
  • Stay current on animal rights issues in general and be able to articulate the objectives and details of PETA’s programs clearly and effectively
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the vice president

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three years of fundraising experience in Asia
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and donor relationships
  • Ability to work independently and use discretion in confidential matters relating to donors
  • Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and be flexible
  • Proven exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage projects, work collaboratively, and foster an ongoing dialog with multiple departments
  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout Asia
  • Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends, as required for donor contact
  • Supportive position with respect to PETA’s philosophy and the ability to advocate professionally for our positions on issues
  • Commitment to the objectives of the organization
