CLOWN CONGREGATION TO URGE MAKATI TO GO VEGAN
PETA Asia’s Cruelty-Free Clowns Will Send the Message That There’s Nothing Scarier Than Slaughterhouses
What: Carrying signs proclaiming, “Stop Clowning Around: Try Vegan” and “Clowns Aren’t Scary—Slaughterhouses Are: Try Vegan,” five People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Asia clowns will descend on Makati on Tuesday to tout the health, environmental, and animal-related benefits of going vegan.
“Clowns get a bad rap, but they’re not half as scary as the slaughterhouses where millions of animals in the Philippines die every year,” says PETA Asia Vice President Jason Baker. “PETA’s crew of compassionate clowns is calling on passersby to keep cruelty off their plates and go vegan.”
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat”—notes that cows, pigs, chickens, and other animals raised for their flesh are dehorned or debeaked and that their teeth, tails, and testicles are cut off—all without painkillers. In addition to sparing numerous animals daily suffering and a terrifying death every year, going vegan reduces your risk of suffering from heart disease, diabetes, obesity, and cancer as well as combating the worst effects of climate change.
Where: At the intersection of Chino Roces Avenue (formerly Pasong Tamo) and Dela Rosa Street, Makati
When: Tuesday, October 3, 12 noon
