Green Iguanas Deserve Compassion, Not Cruelty
These green iguanas are victims of the pet trade, which steals animals from their native homes or breeds them in filthy mills, sells them off like cheap toys, and does nothing to stop buyers from dumping them on the street to fend for themselves. These animals may not be as familiar as the dogs and cats who share many of our homes, but they feel pain and fear just as much and are just as deserving of humane population control.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) reminds the public that animals are someone, not something to get rid of. PETA urges authorities to prioritize non-lethal strategies, and if culling is deemed necessary, to ensure that it is done according to established guidelines to minimize suffering.
