Renee Somerfield, Ellie Gonsalves and Sheridyn Fisher Show How Eating Healthy and Humane Vegetarian Meals Can Keep You Looking Good
For Immediate Release:
6 November 2014
Sydney – Swimsuit models Renee Somerfield, Ellie Gonsalves and Sheridyn Fisher – who once shared the cover of Maxim – are among the Australian contestants in People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Asia-Pacific’s annual Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrity contest on PETAAsiaPacific.com. Other popular contenders from Australia include actors Abbie and Isabelle Cornish, Radha Mitchell, Sophie Monk and Isabel Lucas; musicians John Butler, Xavier Rudd and Missy Higgins and cricketer Peter Siddle. The contest coincides with World Vegan Month, which is celebrated each November.
Other vegetarian celebrities in the contest include former US President Bill Clinton, talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres and actors Emily Deschanel, Portia de Rossi, Natalie Portman, Joaquin Phoenix, Russell Brand, Pamela Anderson, Tobey Maguire and Jared Leto.
Why are more and more trendsetters choosing to go vegetarian? Healthy vegetarian meals can help reduce the risk of suffering from cancer, heart disease and strokes. Plus, meat-eaters are nine times more likely to be obese than vegans are, making a vegetarian diet the easiest way to stay slim and sexy.
“Becoming Vegan has been one of the most positive changes I have ever made in my life. Not only for my passion for animal[s] but for my outlook, mind, body and soul”, says leading nominee Fisher. “All the necessary nutrients, proteins, and amino acids for the body’s sustenance can be found in vegetables, grains, nuts and rice milk.”
“When you look at the gorgeous celebrities in this year’s contest, it’s clear that eating vegetarian meals helps keep you beautiful inside and out”, says PETA Asia Vice President of International Operations Jason Baker. “Going vegetarian is the best thing that you can do for animals, the Earth and yourself. Plus, everyone knows that there’s nothing sexier than someone who exudes both passion and compassion.”
The Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrity contest runs through 25 November. PETA will ultimately decide the winners – one male and one female – based on several factors, including the number of votes received.
