PETA Statement on the Killing of a Stolen Arapaima Fish Worth ₱7 Million

PETA Asia President Jason Baker has issued the following statement regarding reports that a stolen 25-year-old arapaima fish valued at ₱7 million was killed:
Whether a life is valued by humans at ₱7 million or ₱7, that life is still a living, feeling being whose existence matters. Reducing a 25-year-old animal to a price tag or a novelty dish shows how easily compassion is lost when economics are placed above another’s right to live. Situations like this invite us to see animals as individuals, not commodities, and to choose vegan options and let them live their own lives.
