PETA’S Herd Of ‘Animals’ To Greet Pope Francis

Among the millions of supporters gathered to celebrate Pope Francis’ arrival in the Philippines will be a “seal,” a “kangaroo,” a “cow,” an “elephant,” and other mascots from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). Why are the animals rushing to welcome the pope? PETA—and Pinoy animal lovers—are hopeful that Pope Francis will inspire everyone to make the kind and just choice to include all animals in our circle of compassion.

The “animals” will hold a banner reading, “Welcome, Pope Francis! Mercy and Compassion for All Beings.”
