Department Recognised for Showing Dogs and Cats Compassion in Midst of National Crisis
Manila — A framed Animal Friend Award from PETA is on its way to the Philippine Coast Guard K-9 Force for going above and beyond the call of duty by feeding and giving water to Manila’s homeless animals during the coronavirus pandemic.
“We hope PETA’s award will put a smile on people’s faces during these uncertain times and spread the word about the Philippine Coast Guard K-9 Force’s valiant acts of generosity,” says PETA Senior Vice President of International Campaigns Jason Baker. “Thanks to the group’s compassionate actions, homeless animals are reminded that they are not forgotten. We encourage communities across the Philippines to follow their inspiring lead and show charity to everyone in need.”
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to abuse in any way”—notes that anyone who is quarantined and unable to care for their animal companions or who encounters an animal in immediate physical danger or in urgent need of food or veterinary care should call its emergency response line at 0999-888-7382.
