PHOTO: Hazmat-Clad Protesters Launch Fish Plea With New Fukushima Dump
What: As Tokyo Electric releases more treated waste water from the Fukushima nuclear plant into the Pacific Ocean today, PETA supporters wearing full body protective hazmat suits descended on the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry to point out that humans’ taste for fish and other aquatic animals causes more harm to the health of the oceans on a regular basis and encourage everyone to do their part to protect the planet by keeping all sea life off their plates.
“Fish feel pain and fear, value their lives, and don’t deserve to be netted, gutted, and consumed any more than we do,” says PETA Senior Vice President Jason Baker. “PETA urges anyone horrified by the Fukushima dump to consider the daily devastation wrought by the unsustainable global fishing industry and go vegan.”
