Statement: Incident at Phuket Tiger Kingdom, Thailand
PETA statement regarding the recent incident at Phuket Tiger Kingdom. PETA’s investigation video of the facility can be found on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and X.
This incident is yet another reminder that wild animals don’t belong in cages or entertainment shows. We shouldn’t be surprised when tigers act like tigers. The complex needs of animals can never be met in a zoo, so it’s hardly surprising when they ‘snap’ after years of being restrained, abused and forced to entertain.
Phuket Tiger Kingdom must shut down the tiger interaction experiences immediately and relocate the tiger, who is clearly frustrated, distressed and merely exhibiting their natural behaviour, to a sanctuary. PETA always stands ready and willing to assist in facilitating the transfer of animals to sanctuaries and urges everyone to avoid facilities that keep animals captive.
