BFP Receives PETA’s ‘Hero to Animals’ Award for Rescuing Dog Trapped in Creek
Makati City — The Bureau of Fire Protection–Makati (BFP-Makati) has earned a Hero to Animals Award from PETA for its swift and compassionate response to a dog rescue incident along the creek of San Jose in Guadalupe Nuevo. An Aspin had become trapped in the waterway, and through the coordinated efforts of BFP-Makati duty operations personnel, the frightened animal was safely rescued.
“Thanks to the empathy and quick action of these brave responders, a life was saved,” says PETA Senior Vice President Jason Baker. “BFP-Makati is setting an example by showing that first responders are there for all members of the community—human and nonhuman alike.”
PETA’s Hero to Animals Award includes a framed certificate and a letter of appreciation. The group encourages all animal guardians to include their animal companions in emergency plans, post window signs alerting rescue workers to the presence of animals, and always have their animals spayed and neutered.
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to abuse in any way”—points out that Every Animal Is Someone. For more information, please visit PETAAsia.com or follow the group on X, Facebook, or Instagram.
