The Impact of Going Vegan
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat”—notes that animals raised for food endure immense suffering before reaching our plates. Choosing vegan options not only protects animals but also supports a more sustainable, ethical future—a mission these award recipients embody every day. Each person who goes vegan spares nearly 200 animals every year and reduces their risk of suffering from heart disease as well as cancer, strokes, diabetes, and obesity.
