Hyper-Realistic, Dissectible ‘Kind Frog’ From PETA Makes Debut in Indonesia

Bandung— PETA’s new Kind FrogTM—a lifelike, silicone-based alternative to dissecting real animals—has come to Indonesian classrooms for the first time. The artificial amphibian made its debut recently at SMP Santa Angela in Bandung, giving students an engaging, hands-on learning experience without the cruelty and the mess of using real frogs.

Developed by TeachKind Science—part of PETA’s humane education division in the US—the Kind Frog is poised to replace the millions of living frogs taken directly from their homes in nature each year and killed for dissection in schools across the globe.

“Cutting up dead animals desensitizes children and sends a dangerous message that it’s OK to hurt other beings,” says PETA Senior Vice President Jason Baker. “PETA is calling on schools to follow SMP Santa Angela’s kind example, stop using real animals in classrooms, and adopt humane, animal-free dissection alternatives like the Kind Frog and other modern, synthetic models.”

PETA notes that—in addition to disrupting ecosystems and contributing to the decline of frog populations—dissecting animals can harm students by inflicting long-term psychological distress, discouraging them from pursuing careers in science, and exposing them to harmful chemicals like formaldehyde.

Designed by teachers, for teachers, the Kind Frog includes anatomically correct color-coded organs, a complete female reproductive system, easy formaldehyde-free setup and cleanup, and an accompanying teacher’s guide and student worksheets. Educators who have tried Kind Frog love its realistic anatomy (“It felt like a real dissection!”) and praise its appeal to students, who they report are “grateful” and “relieved [to] not dissect a once-living animal.”

PETA Asia—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to experiment on”—points out that Every Animal Is Someone. For more information, please visit PETAAsia.com or follow PETA on XFacebook, or Instagram.
