IKEA Unpacks PETA Asia’s Compassionate Business Award in Malaysia for Vegan Menu
Diners Can Now Enjoy a Delicious Vegan Dinner Featuring Veggie Balls, Vegan Fishless Fingers, Chocolate Oat Milk Soft Serve, and More
Kuala Lumpur — Ikea Malaysia is set to receive a Compassionate Business Award from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) for its recent addition of chocolate oat milk soft serve to its menu. Ikea’s latest vegan offerings include veggie balls, vegan fishless fingers, vegan chargrilled chicken pesto spaghetti, tom yum fried rice, mushroom soup, and more.
“Any hungry shopper will be thrilled by a hearty, vegan fishless finger or a decadent, dairy-free soft serve,” says Jason Baker, PETA’s Senior Vice President. “PETA is recognizing Ikea Malaysia for responding to the growing demand for food that is both delicious and kind to animals and the planet.”
IKEA has introduced new vegan menu items as part of its commitment to sustainability. Their food goals include offering 50% of main meals in their restaurants as vegan by 2025, ensuring that 80% of these meals will not contain red meat, and making 80% of all packaged food vegan. Additionally, the United Nations has indicated that a global shift toward vegan eating is essential to address the severe impacts of climate change. Each individual who adopts a vegan diet helps spare 200 animals annually from daily suffering and a horrific death.
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to abuse in any way”—opposes speciesism. For more information, please visit PETAAsia.com or follow the group on X, Facebook, or Instagram.
