PETA ‘Aliens’ Invade Makati With Plea: Stop Eating Your Fellow Earthlings

On Thursday, a dozen green “aliens” descended on Makati and marched through the streets with a pointed warning for humans—“Go Vegan: Your Planet Depends On It”—to remind everyone that animal agriculture is killing planet Earth and is responsible for more greenhouse gases than all the world’s transportation systems combined. Thanks to global warming, the Philippines is already facing a barrage of stronger, more frequent typhoons — something that’s become especially evident in just the last few weeks.

“Meat, eggs, and dairy products wreak havoc on the planet and the human body, but vegan food is deliciously out of this world and helps slash our carbon footprint,” says PETA Senior Vice President Jason Baker. “PETA urges everyone to help spare billions of animals’ lives and reduce our environmental impact by going vegan.”

PETA points out that every person who goes vegan spares nearly 200 animals each year from daily suffering and a terrifying death. Choosing compassion over cruelty shouldn’t be an alien concept. Going vegan is not only kind to animals but is also one of the easiest and most effective actions an individual can take to reduce their carbon footprint. The United Nations states that animal agriculture is responsible for nearly a fifth of human-induced greenhouse gas emissions—and that going vegan is necessary if we are to avoid the worst effects of the climate catastrophe.

PETA Asia—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat”—points out that Every Animal is Someone. For more information, please visit PETAAsia.com or follow PETA Asia on XFacebook, or Instagram.
