PETA ‘Aliens’ to Invade Taipei With Plea: Stop Eating Your Fellow Earthlings

What:             On New Year’s Day, five green “aliens” will descend on Taipei’s Xinyi District and march through the streets with a pointed warning for humans—“Go Vegan: Your Planet Depends On It”—to remind everyone that animal agriculture is killing planet Earth and to help spare billions of animals from violent deaths in slaughterhouses by going vegan in 2026.

“The meat, egg, and dairy industries wreak havoc on the planet and are responsible for the suffering and deaths of billions of animals every year,” says PETA Asia President Jason Baker. “Choosing compassion over cruelty shouldn’t be an alien concept, and PETA urges everyone to ring in the new year with kindness by choosing animal- and planet-friendly vegan foods”

The United Nations states that animal agriculture is responsible for nearly a fifth of human-induced greenhouse gas emissions—and that going vegan is necessary if we are to avoid the worst effects of the climate catastrophe. Additionally, each person who goes vegan spares nearly 200 animals every year and reduces their own risk of suffering from cancer, heart disease, and strokes. PETA’s “How to Go Vegan” guide can help anyone thinking of making the switch.

When:           Thursday, January 1, 2 p.m.

Where:           The “alien” march begins at the intersection of Songgao Road and Songzhi Road in the XinYi District, Taipei City.

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat”—points out that Every Animal Is Someone. For more information, please visit PETAAsia.com or follow PETA Asia on XFacebook, or Instagram.
