PETA offers $10,000 Reward for Information Leading to Arrest in Cat Mutilation Case

Hong Kong — PETA is offering a reward of HK$10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual responsible for the suspected mutilation and killing of a shop cat in Hung Hom.

According to media reports, the cat was found by the guardian with his tail nearly severed, in what appears to be a brutal and deliberate act of violence. The case is now under police investigation. PETA is urging anyone with information about this incident to come forward to help ensure that whoever committed this attack is held accountable before more animals—or people—are harmed.

“Violence against animals is never an isolated issue—it is a well-documented warning sign of a broader capacity for violence that can escalate and pose serious risks to public safety,” says PETA Asia President Jason Baker. “Research consistently shows a strong link between cruelty to animals and violence toward humans. Authorities must act swiftly and send a clear message that such brutality will not be tolerated.”

PETA urges the public to report any information related to this case to the authorities.
