PETA statement: death of tiger cubs at Indonesian zoo
Below, please find a statement from PETA Asia President Jason Baker in response to reports of the deaths of two tiger cubs at Bandung Zoo in Indonesia:
The deaths of these tiger cubs are a tragic reminder that wild animals suffer in zoos—confined to barren enclosures that are nothing like the vast territories they’re meant to roam, where they would travel great distances each day instead of pacing back and forth in a pen. Zoos are not sanctuaries but ticketed attractions that separate animals from their families and put them at constant risk, and the public should never visit them. PETA urges authorities to transfer the surviving animals to reputable sanctuaries and stands ready to help make that happen.
