PETA Statement: Failure to Suspend Trade of Endangered Macaques from Cambodia

PETA Statement on the Failure to Suspend Trade of Endangered Macaques from Cambodia

PETA is disappointed by the failure to suspend the trade of endangered long-tailed macaques from Cambodia, a decision that ignores clear evidence of corruption in the primate trade and dooms countless monkeys to suffering. Instead of taking action to protect monkeys, authorities have sided with the animal experimentation industry, which profits from tearing sensitive, intelligent monkeys away from their families and subjecting them to painful and deadly experiments that lack relevance to humans.

PETA will continue to push for an end to the global primate trade and expose the suffering behind every shipment of monkeys bound for laboratories. We urge governments, research institutions, and the public to take a stand—reject cruel and outdated experiments on animals, support superior, human-relevant research methods, and help shut down this abusive industry once and for all.
