PETA’s Earth-Painted Activsts to Urge Public to Go Vegan

What:            Ahead of  Earth Day, three PETA supporters in body paint will gather at a busy intersection at the Kendal Tunnel to urge passersby to save the planet by going vegan.

“The meat industry is guzzling up natural resources, spewing out contaminants, and heating up the planet, and it’s also responsible for the suffering and death of scores of animals,” says PETA Senior Vice President Jason Baker. “PETA will remind everyone that the easiest and most efficient way to stop the climate crisis in its tracks is to keep animal-derived foods off our plates.”

The United Nations states that a global shift toward vegan eating is necessary to combat the worst effects of global heating, and the meat industry is a major contributor to pollution, land degradation, water shortages, and habitat destruction, including in Indonesia. In addition to shrinking their carbon footprint, each person who goes vegan spares the lives of nearly 200 animals every year.
