‘World Leaders’ to guide PETA’s G7 Summit Pro-Vegan Protest

What:            On Wednesday, PETA supporters will launch a G7 protest wearing face masks of world leaders Joe Biden, Fumio Kishida, Olaf Scholz, Anthony Albanese, Emmanuel Macron and Rishi Sunak while carrying giant signs showing the Earth on, fire and delivering the dire message “Go Vegan or We All Die” as they descend on Motoujina-guchi Station in advance of the summit in order to urge governments to implement policies for transitioning to vegan food systems. The protestors will point out that raising animals for food causes immense suffering, produces tons of greenhouse gases, and requires massive amounts of land, feed, energy, and water.

“Killing animals for food is killing the planet and us by extension, and going vegan is the most efficient way to stop the climate catastrophe in its tracks,” says PETA Senior Vice President Jason Baker. “PETA is calling on G7 Summit attendees to make it a fruitful event by implementing robust pro-vegan measures.”

PETA Asia—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat” and which opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview—notes that according to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the production of meat, eggs, and dairy is the leading cause of ocean dead zones, water pollution, species extinction, and habitat destruction. Every person who goes vegan saves the lives of nearly 200 animals a year.
