A Rainy Day at the Circus

Australia circus protestWaving placards asking vehicles to “Honk Against Cages,” protestors on the Gold Coast braved the pouring rain to bring a simple message to circus attendees: that animals shouldn’t be locked up or beaten into performing unnatural tricks. In order to force lions, tigers, elephants, and other animals to perform confusing and often painful tricks, circus trainers use chains, muzzles, whips, electric prods, steel-tipped bullhooks, and other cruel “tools of the trade.”
