Eggs: Bad for You and Bad for Chickens!

Posted on by Ashley Fruno

Eggs just aren’t good for you, plain and simple. They’re packed with more than 200 mg of cholesterol each (that’s more than a KFC Double Down Sandwich!), and let’s be honest: How good can a chicken’s period really be for you? Now, more research has come to light indicating that women who consume eggs while pregnant have up to a 77 percent higher rate of developing gestational diabetes. Now if that’s not a sign that you shouldn’t eat eggs, then I don’t know what is!

The hens who are forced to produce eggs for us are kept in appalling conditions. These wonderfully inquisitive animals are made to live in cages with as many as four other hens and have less space than an A4 piece of paper to call their own. They’re unable to spread their wings and have their beaks painfully burned off in order to prevent pecking, a natural instinct that is used to enforce a social order.

By far the easiest way that you can help these animals is by giving up egg products and making the decision to go vegan today.
