Horses Say ‘Nay!’ to Surfing

Posted on by Ashley Fruno

They weigh at least 1,000 pounds, they have legs that are supported by ankles the size of a human’s, and they’re forced to run through the ocean waves at speeds of more than 30 miles per hour while carrying people on their backs and pulling others behind them on surf boards.  This is extreme equestrian sporting. It’s something most of us have never heard about, but it’s on its way to Australia now.

Of course, these horses are not doing this for their own enjoyment. They are forced to run through harsh training and made to ignore any pain or injury that they experience via the threat of being whipped.

The best way to help these animals is to boycott the cruel horse-racing industry and encouraging your friends and family to do so as well! If you would like to be updated on this and other animal rights issues, please follow PETA Asia-Pacific on Facebook.
