Mali Petition Delivered With More Than 60,000 Signatures!
A thank-you is in order to all of you that signed the Change.org petition to help send Mali the elephant to a sanctuary. Last week, a printed version of the online petition was delivered to the Philippine secretary of agriculture, Proceso J. Alcala, by PETA staff and an activist dressed in an elephant suit. The online petition received more than 60,000 signatures from around the world—a number that can’t be ignored—and the delivery was covered by multiple news outlets, making it a major victory.
There has been no decision made regarding Mali’s transfer, but support is rising. Several editorial pieces have run in newspapers, including The Philippine Inquirer and The Philippine Star in favor of Mali’s transfer.
The fight for Mali’s freedom is far from over, though. We still need your help! Please check out this list of ideas for how you can support the campaign for Mali’s freedom, and don’t forget to “like” our “Free Mali” page on Facebook for regular updates!
